The audio output on external displays does not work automatically with elementary OS on Star Labs laptops. This guide will talk you through how to resolve this issue.
1 Install PulseAudio Volume Control
Open the elementary Applications menu and click on Terminal. Enter the below command:
sudo apt install pavucontrol
Enter your password when prompted.
2 Change the output profile
Open the elementary Applications menu and click on PulseAudio Volume Control.
Navigate to the configuration tab and change the profile dropdown to Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output + Analogue Stereo Input
3 Change the output device
Navigate to the Output Devices tab and change the port from Speakers to HDMI.
Note: If you want to close the lid whilst media continues to play, there should be a green tick above the port drop-down box to set as a fallback which should be clicked.
