This will cover how to write an Ubuntu ISO image to a USB drive on Windows 10. This process should also work for previous Windows versions i.e. 7 / 8 / 8.1.
Requirements:
- Utility to write to USB: Rufus or Unetbootin
- Unetbootin - https://unetbootin.github.io
- Rufus - https://rufus.ie/
1 USB write tool
For this, we will use Rufus to write the ISO image to a USB drive.
Info: Windows does not have a native application to write ISO's to USB drives.
Rufus is a good tool to use and can found here:

2 Download and run
Download the "rufus-3.3.exe" and run.
Make sure that Device has your USB drive as the location that you wish to write to.
Note: If the target is incorrect, you will overwrite the device.
3 Download image and write
Click on Select and choose the ISO that you wish to write to USB.
The details of the ISO should now appear in Boot selection and Volume label.
4 Write complete
Once the status is Ready, you can click on Start to begin the write process.
This should take about 5-10 minutes to complete.
